Your Fall Reset
“Hey Siri, play Boston By Augustana”
It’s officially September, and you know what that means…
Grab your pumpkin spice cold foam brew, light that crisp apple orchard candle, slap that chunky knit scarf around your neck, and drive yourself to Target for a Fall decor haul.
Cozy sweaters and Instagram-worthy foliage let us know it’s the time for a Fall Reset. You’re back to the grind after a global pandemic, more strapped for cash and overwhelmed by the rising cost of everything - trying to make ends meet while balancing the rest of your life. Kids back to school. Back to work and routine after your hot girl summer, and looking to set some intentions for the next year ahead.
Setting your intentions for Fall can play a crucial role in your mental wellness journey. And listen, it’s not anything earth shattering. I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know - the cyclical transition of the season innately prompts change anyway, so let’s learn how to ebb and flow along with it.
Setting Fall Intentions
Here’s your step-by-step guide to setting your chill girl autumn intentions:
(1) Reflect on Summer
Take a moment to reflect on your summer. What were your highs and lows? What did you learn about yourself? Use this reflection as a starting point to set intentions for the Fall.
(2) Identify Priorities
What are the most important areas of your life right now? It could be career growth, personal development, financial goals, or bolstering your health and wellbeing. Choose 2-3 key areas to focus on for this Fall season.
(3) Set SMART Goals
Make your intentions Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound (SMART). For example, instead of saying, "I want to be healthier," you could say, "I will walk outside for 30 minutes three times a week + cook at least three homemade meals a week."
(4) Visualize Success
Close your eyes and visualize yourself achieving your Fall intentions. Feel the sense of accomplishment and happiness that comes with it. Visualization can help motivate and inspire you toward your goals. How do you want to feel at the end of the season? Be present in your body and let your mind roam with possibilities.
(5) Create an Action Plan
Break down your goals into actionable steps. What can you do today, this week, and this month to work towards your intentions? Write it down and create a plan. Don’t get overwhelmed by the details. Think big picture and chunk your actionable steps so you have a roadmap to move you closer to your goals.
Remember, the Fall Reset isn't about overhauling your entire life in one go. It's about making intentional choices that align with your values and priorities right now.
By setting meaningful intentions you can make this Fall a season of growth, balance, and inner peace. So light that Pumpkin Spice Vanilla candle, sit by your favorite window, get into your favorite overside sweater, and let yourself scheme and dream for this next upcoming year. 🍂
