The Truth About Trauma
Maybe it was a single event that you can’t stop thinking about & absolutely took you out and now you’re left dealing with a combo of:
sadness
Flashbacks
hyper-vigilance (super aware of What’s happening around you at all times)
avoiding things that remind you of what happened
feeling detached or on edge
fear & anxiety
nightmares.
If these symptoms linger, it’s likely you’re experiencing Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). You’re absolutely NOT crazy for experiencing these symptoms - quite the opposite - your body is pretty badass for surviving the scary situation & doing what it needed to do to protect you during the stressful experience.
Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) is the result of experiencing multiple & prolonged stressors that can contribute to a whole lot of really overwhelming symptoms.
Symptoms like low self-esteem & self-worth, emotional dysregulation (trouble controlling emotions), mood swings, impulsive behaviors, persistent depression & anxiety, and relationship problems infused with conflict, communication & trust issues, or vacillating clinginess or avoidance.
That trauma & those symptoms are not your fault.
But they can be really hard to deal with, and often seep into every other area of your life. Trauma Therapy is the best way to safely reprocess those big trauma memories & soothe those really overwhelming trauma symptoms.
I use a combination of EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, Attachment Theory, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for your individualized trauma therapy & treatment .
