Religious Abuse & Deconstruction Therapy

Anyone STill lurking on exmormon, exvangelical, & excult Tik-Tok?

Just me?

As a former evangelical christian turned nonreligious & forging my own path, the algorithm is too real.

It’s hard work deconstructing and deprogramming from a religion or belief system that’s not aligned with your current values.

Can I get an amen? Too soon?

Decontructing your values or breaking away from your religion & past belief system can lead to an identity crisis, loss of community, decentering, & grieving of your entire former self.

It can be a lonely and isolating journey. Especially if you have people in your life who are unsupportive or judgmental of your shift in worldview. Or worse, you experience alienation from your former community, close friends, or family. Deep sigh.

Or maybe you’re a survivor of religious abuse.

Where you were coerced, manipulated, and/or physically/sexually/emotionally abused within your religious community.

Religious communities are the perfect breeding ground for institutionalized abuse due to inherent patriarchy, unbalanced power dynamics, & blind trust in leadership with little accountability for wrongdoing.

Your religious trauma is real & valid. Even if you weren’t believed, taken seriously, corerced into staying silent, or it wasn’t safe enough to speak up.

I believe you
